One Red Wing could stand alone at Winter Classic
One member of the Detroit Red Wings could become the only player to play in all three NHL outdoor games on January 1.
Brian Campbell of the Chicago Black Hawks will be suiting up for his second outdoor game. He was a member of the Buffalo Sabres who participated in last year’s Winter Classic against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Georges Laraque played in his second outdoor game last season as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins. He also played in the Heritage Classic as a member of the Edmonton Oilers in 2003 against the Montreal Canadiens.
Current Wings netminder Ty Conklin was a teammate of Laraque’s in Edmonton and Pittsburgh and was the starting goalie in both outdoor games.
